Our cult web series Larry & Burt’s Gut Rot has gone legitimate with its very own website. The dirty duo finally have a home for their rotting guts. It’s small, it’s grubby, it’s dingy, it’s filthy, it’s perfect! Over this past weekend, the final scene of Larry & Burt’s Gut Rot was shot, it was also the final scene for Episode 6 which is debuting September 20th, 7pm at Southern Accent in Toronto. It has been a fun ride since rolling cameras in November 2009. In perfect symmetry with the wrap, we will be launching an official Larry & Burt’s Gut Rot website in the very near future. We would like to thank everyone who worked on and supported us during this very personal project. It is going to be tough to wait until September 20th to find out the reaction to the finale, but it will be fun to finally view it with an audience as part of the ReelHeART Monthly Screening Series.  Thanks again to everyone who helped in getting the Gut Rot out there, and special thanks to Cameron’s Brewing for keeping the cast and crew refreshed! We are not sure what the future holds for them, but we do know Larry and Burt will continue to fight the good fight!

ReelHeART International Film Festival in conjunction with Larry & Burt’s Gut Rot is re-launching their Monthly Film Series! On Monday September 20th in Southern Accent, 595 Markham St. (Toronto) at 7pm the first five episodes of the series will screen before the PREMIERE of the series finale.

So come out and support some of the finest and most hardworking people in the independent film scene. Larry and Burt continue on their downward spiral. Their used furniture racket just might spark international warfare and the streets they travel on will never be the same. This episode gives us the debut of David Dailly as a Welsh, or is it Scottish, gangster, as well as an all too real ridealong with a pizza delivery driver on the edge. Put all humans and pets to bed because Domecountry is only for the intergalactic and inebriated. Larry & Burt’s Gut Rot screened at the 9th Annual Wreck-Beach International Film Festival held in Domecountry this past weekend. It was a perfect setting for a series about two guys who are off their rocker. Picture geodesic mushroom-shaped houses on a man-made beach with a rocketron projector for the outdoor screenings and you’re just beginning to understand the experience. It was an ideal spot to sip some beers and watch some very original films over the long weekend. Thanks to the one and only Captain, this is an experience not to be missed and we can’t wait til next year!

Lucas McNelly of 100 Films recently compiled his prestigious list of the “Greatest People in the World” and lo and behold who appeared as No. 24 on the list but SubProd’s own Brett Butler. Upon hearing about his honor, Brett had this to say: “to crack the top 25 feels good but leaves room for improvement – which I plan to do every single day of my life, No. 23 you’re going down”. So thanks Lucas, we appreciate your motivation for SubProd to do bigger and better things in this coming year and catapult Brett into the top ten by 2011.

During some guerrilla filming for Episode 5 of Larry & Burt’s Gut Rot, the Toronto police were called in by locals in the neighborhood who were on watch – to the tune of 10 calls according to the officer. The setup for the scene was a small altercation between our main pizza guru Larry and a distracted cellphone-talking jerk in a car. Evidently folks on the streets became paranoid we were some bad ass kidnappers casing the area. Apparently filming your kidnap is the new rage in that industry, hmmm! Luckily our shoot was being covered by National Post writer Peter Kenter, who had no problem flashing his media credentials and backing the police right off!!

Just another day in indie cinema.
